We see Dirty Bacchus as a farm stand, as a place where farmers who devote themselves to the arduous hands-on cultivation of flourishing vineyards, and where winemakers who devote themselves to the transformation of those vineyards’ robust grapes into wine, get to display and sell the products of their toil and care.

Every wine on the shelves at Dirty Bacchus is low-intervention, organic or biodynamic, sustainably farmed and vegan. The contents of every bottle we sell are as close to the hands of the farmers and of the winemakers - as close to the grape - as possible. 

The wines we select are farmed and vinified in ways that respect the people who make them, respect and revive the land they grow from, and respect the future health of that land and those people.

Terah Bajjalieh / Terah Wine Co / Morgan Hill, CA - Recently, I had the pleasure to meet and taste with Laura Bissell of Inconnu Wine. What struck me immediately, at first sniff first sip, was how true to the varietal her wines are. A second sip revealed the overall quality, the honing in on depth and richness of aroma and flavor (by which I do not mean over-extraction); the elegance and finesse of the wines spoke volumes about the winemaker’s patience, passion and attention to detail. (Her wines will be in the store mid-December). Why am I saying this below a picture of Terah Wine Co wines? Well, for me, Terah Bajjelieh is a similar - surely not identical, but similar - winemaker, focusing more on making wines that are beautiful and/or mesmerizing or both rather than on the production of natty thrills and winey soda pop - a trend I desperately hope is passing. Terah’s 50/50 Pinot Noir/Chardonnay pét-nat was my favorite west coast bubbly of the year and I was fortunate to get two more cases in stock this week. Her Vermentino and skin-contact Ramato of Pinot Gris are likewise the products of a patient, capable, serious winemaker. Laura Bissell and Terah Bajjalieh are precisely the kind of winemakers I feel honored to support by bringing their wines into Dirty Bacchus. @terahwinecompany @terahwineco @inconnuwine #winesofcalifornia
